Ngatidzidzirei kuchengetedza musha pa Zimbabwe.

Let’s learn how to look after the household in Zimbabwe.

Many thanks to Tinaishe and her family who sent this video to us.
Sarura Kids is about learning shona language and about the world around us.
Watch this video recorded by Tinaishe and her family for us.
She tells us about her average day in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is a country in Africa.
In Zimbabwe one of the languages they speak is Shona.
Tinaishe and her family speak in Shona.
They tell us how Tinaishe helps around the house.
She helps her grandmother and her mother to do the housework and the cleaning.
Tinaishe shows us in this video how she fetches wood from the mountains nearby with her family. They use the firewood to light fires on the hearth outside.
This is where Tinaishe makes porridge. She shows us the special utensil she uses to start preparing the porridge so it isn’t lumpy. The utensil is called “musika”
Listen out for it in the video and see if you can repeat it with her.
Tinaishe’s grandmother also tells us about how she does the laundry without any washing machine. She shows us how she balances the bucket on her head when she goes to fetch water. The bucket has a special name.
It is called “mugomo”
Tinaishe’s grandmother is very good at balancing her mugomo. She can do it without even holding it. And she can dance while balancing it too!
This takes years and years of practice so please don’t try this one on your own.
Tinaishe and her family are very happy and they want to say a big hello to every one who is watching their video!

Thank you Tinaishe for sharing this video with us.
