Chinese New Year 2020 celebrations in Aberdeen

chinese new year 2020 with sarura kids

This year Chinese New Year was on Saturday the 25th of January 2020. Every single year it falls on a different date. Chinese New Year lasts about 23 days. Each Chinese New Year has a different animal each year. 2020 is the year of the rat.
The Confucius Institute in Aberdeen Scotland hosts some wonderful celebrations with dances by local as well as Chinese dance troupes. It’s a great day out for the family and a brilliant chance to celebrate Chinese New Year.

We went along on the Sunday to Elphinstone Hall in Aberdeen University. They had lots of fun things to try out. From learning how to write, to craft activities for the kids, to learning how to dance. Ano even got the chance to try on a lovely girls outfit and take a picture with mom and dad.

We also really loved the drawings done by kids at schools around Aberdeen. You can see them at the end of the video.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!
